An all-electric heat pump designed to retrofit into existing windows, requiring no structural modifications.

Intuitive System UI
Adjust temperature, fan speed, system mode, and schedule events all directly from the unit’s UI.
App Control
Control the unit remotely through the Gradient app from anywhere. Adjust temperature, fan speed, and mode, and set scheduled events.
Meltwater Mister
Condensate water is directed from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit, where it is atomized into a fine mist. The result is no dripping or ice buildup during winter.
Remote Control
Directly control the unit from the remote.
Consumer
Completed on-site research and conversations with NYCHA residents to understand their needs.
Who They Are
Ages 13–85, living in apartment buildings with steam heat and old AC units. They are new to heat pumps and have never had control over their home temperature.
What They Need:
Equal or better heating/cooling performance, simple controls: physical device, remote, or app, quick, clear feedback from the unit, minimal setup.
Considerations:
Users range from tech-savvy to basic technology users, with varying mobility, vision, and grip limitations, often preferring tactile physical controls over purely digital interactions.
Process Work
Throughout the product development process, I was the primary point of contact from concept through production, evaluating prototype builds and collaborating directly with vendors and manufacturers to ensure the final product met quality, performance, and manufacturing standards.
